Easy Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets

 

When you think of kid friendly foods what do you think of? I bet chicken nuggets made the list! I remember when I was little I used to be obsessed with dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets. The thing I loved best about those chicken nuggets were the pillowy centers just like take out nuggets.

I have made many chicken nuggets before by cutting chicken breast into cubes or strips and breading with the standard flour, egg, bread crumb dredging method. However, it was just never the same. I tried numerous recipes to duplicate the infamous nugget with no success.

That was until one day when I decided to try using GROUND chicken. GAME CHANGER! After making this recipe, you will never need take out nuggets again.

 

The Recipe

Until I got my air fryer, I used to baked these nuggets in the oven. They came out just as good but I prefer the air fryer because it made them extra crunchy in less time.

There are only TWO major ingredients in this recipe; ground chicken and seasoned bread crumbs.

The easiest way to prepare is to score the ground chicken into 12 sections. This will ensure even shaped nuggets. It is important not to over mix the ground chicken because your result will be tough and chewy.

Using your hands, form each section into a chicken nugget shape. Roll in the breadcrumbs until fully coated.

Spray basket with olive oil spray and place nuggets on the basket without overlapping. Cook at 390 degrees F for 10 minutes, until golden brown. Half way through, give the basket a shake to ensure they don’t stick.

 

Baking

If you don’t have an air fryer, No problem! You can also bake them. Just drizzle with olive oil and cook for 20 minutes in a 400 degree F, flipping half way through.
